The Lord of the Ring
This is not specific to our situation and, in fact, this kind of thing RARELY happens in my life, so I'll take 5 minutes of your time to give honor to whom honor is due.
I recently spent a week with my husband's family - the first gathering during our 20 years of marriage. We had a lovely time and, during the week, I was presented with a ring - a present from my sister-in-law that had previously belonged to my husband's mother (may her memory be blessed).
The ring didn't fit, so I asked my daughter to wear it. I didn't have any jewelry case with me or any small pouch to put it in. Before we left, she gave it back to me, though I didn't remember packing it. We got home and, as I unpacked, I looked for the ring. Not in the suitcase. Not in my pockets. I did my laundry. No ring. I asked my daughters to start looking through everything they had brought on vacation and see if the ring was there.
Finally, I had to call my niece to see if the cleaning crew at the apartment found my ring. I was devastated. I knew it was only a ring, but the fact that it came from my husband's deceased mother put a great value to this last remembrance he has of her. I started praying and had my friends and co-workers pray. We kept looking, even though there was nothing else to look in.
After two weeks, with everything put away and nowhere else we could possibly check...we still continued praying. I couldn't give up because I was concerned it would be traumatic to my husband and endanger our marriage. I COULDN'T give up.
Then, after moving a new couch into my daughter's room, she found the ring. On that couch that wasn't in her room before, under a scarf she had worn the prior day - the RING!! This is impossible!! In the same way a dead person could rise and live again; in the same way an innocent man can pay for the sins of the world; in the same way my Savior chose me and called me. He is THE LORD OF THE RING.
