8 Spring Fruits Palestinians Love
1. Karaz - Sour Cherry
Just imagine eating an unripe cherry. We love to dip it in some salt and eat as much as we can until our tummy says enough.
2. Humus Akhdar - Green Chickpeas
The joy when a whole stack of humus comes and the joy of picking one at a time, peeling it and then eating it. The best way to eat this is to pick them, then toast them in the oven with lemon juice and a brush of salt.
3. Mistakawy - Sour Apricots
A type of apricot that is a bit more on the sour side of the palate than a regular apricot.
4. Fa’ous - Sweet Cucumber
The closest thing I could think of is a sweeter type of cucumber that is crunchier.
5. Harroush - Sweet Cucumber
Similar flavor to Fa’ous except it is rounder and darker green.
6. Hummeed - Sour sticks
These lovely plants grow everywhere in Palestine, and you can just chew on the stem and enjoy a rush of sourness in your mouth.
7. Louz - Almonds
Again, imagine eating the almond fruit before it ripens. With a dash of salt, eat as much as you can.
These plums grow in the wild in Palestine and they are rich in sweetness and sourness. They are best used for making home-made jam.
